The diner was busy on Sunday morning. We had a group of seven and had to wait for around 20 minutes before we got seated. Service was great - fast, nice, all the orders came exactly how we ordered them, and the food was just delicious. I enjoyed the atmosphere - the place looked clean, cozy, and had a good vibe. I will definitely come back when I am around!

I feel this place has gone down hill since new owners took over a couple of months ago.

This place is fantastic! Stopped in for breakfast after a late night on our road trip across the country, this place far exceeded our expectations. Literally everything there is made from scratch, and you can tell the difference. Pancakes are a must there, with their homemade syrup of course! Tracy was our waitress - get excited if you get her she was amazing and made the experience that much better!

You get what you pay for. The price of the food was reasonable. Staff was very friendly and the coffee was decent but that's about it. My husband had the breakfast burrito and I had their french toast. The burrito was bland, green chile tasted cheap and the red chile sauce was straight up gross. The french toast was really dry with no flavor. Maybe it's because are spoiled? There are great breakfast places here in Fort Collins. Unfortunately they are all in old town. I would highly suggest The Kitchen, Snooze and The Silver Grill. We would rather drive than pay money on food we aren't satisfied with.

My server, Jordan, was very friendly, polite, and responsive. She took good care of me. Unfortunately, the place was kind of messy, with more than a few dirty tables and floor areas. My burger was literally served on a miniature loaf of bread. That might have been kind of cool, but the bun was dry and falling apart. The patty was also dry. The cheese was supposed to be cheddar but it was processed American. The guacamole was really bland. My "fries" were tiny bits of potatoes that were overdone and very greasy. Maybe this place is better for breakfast.

Best breakfast I've had in a long time. Omelets are great and the BG ( biscuits and gravy ) is very good. Portions are huge. Service was also great.
(5)Katharine C.
Pretty good little place! The portions are HUGE for the price, which is always nice. The food is pretty good too. I had the Drizzle omelet (I got the small portion, and it was perfect for one person) with the hashbrowns and a biscuit with apple butter. The apple butter was pretty good, but the biscuit was a little dry! The hashbrowns, on the other hand, were delicious! I love the way they are cut. The omelet was pretty good, it was a bit strange to have a mix of all those flavors, but it was something new! The service was great - the servers were very attentive and kind. I liked this place, and probably will return! I just have mixed feelings about the meal I had, so I'll definitely try something different next time.

Hands down THE BEST breakfast and lunch place in Fort Collins. We are in love with this place; great food, huge portions, very friendly staff, and super fresh!! Can't WAIT to go back for more!!

Maybe this place was a little rocky when it first opened based on some of the other reviews, but now it seems they worked out the kinks. I live in Old Town so i'm hard pressed to come to the South side unless I have to and I know the breakfast places down on the south side are pretty slim pickins. I think I have been to all of breakfast places on the south side, in my opinion nothing compared to Old Town. The place was packed at 11am on Sat, 15-20 min wait. We sat by a couple who said they had come for lunch before and it was awesome so they came back to try the breakfast. They people on the other side of us were regulars. Not much for vegetarians (but come on, us vegie heads know the mods are as simple as saying hold the ham). The couple stock vegetarian dishes were great (we ordered the Sharon and the Skinny?! I think). A plus is they have the standard green chili which is made with pork broth so that was out, but also the red chili which was purely vegetarian and a little kick with had a nice flavor. The only thing that I wasn't that into was the biscuit. It was big but it was too dense in style. It wasn't your nice big flaky buttermilk type like the kick @ss ones at Lucilles. The apple butter tasted homemade and fresh so that was yummy (ask for double). Looks like they have thick slab bacon or something for the meat eaters which is pretty rare in Colorado- haven't seen it anywhere else in Denv/Boulder area. I didn't try any meat so I can't attest to the quality. Didn't try the white gravy either which is a usual breakfast quality meter. The coffee was just ok, not burnt or anything, just nothing super. They do have both flavored creamers and reg half and half which is a nice touch. The staff was your typical college kid staff, so nothing special regarding service to report. Not bad, not good. But there aren't alot of places up here with great service anyhow. Overall, this place was good and pretty tasty, and with huge portions cooked well I can see why it was packed. Great asset to the South side. I would come back for sure. 3/19/2012- Correction! We went there for breakfast again last weekend and upon ordering they said the Red Chile was NOT vegetarian. It's made with chicken stock. We told them that they said it was vegetarian when we came before and we ordered it based on that. They claimed their staff was all completely knowledgeable on the vegetarian items.... Obviously they were not all in sync as in our case but the good news is they most likely will be educated now ;)

Kinda over priced. Coffee burnt, which coming in bright and early did not think it should have been "sitting". 4 bucks for a watered down cranberry juice. Not a lot of bang for the buck here. With so many breakfast spots in foco won't need to come back to this place. I got the basic. 2 eggs, bacon, toast and browns. Potatoes tasted like dirt. As if they did not clean them at all. Bacon was a curious texture, not crisp not soggy, but not good either. All in all, I would say avoid this place as it is not worth the price or the quality, especially with all the quality places that we have in town, there is not need to put the effort in this one.

My hubby and I were passing through and visited on a tip. Just, WOW- biscuits to die for! Huge portions of great food. We got more biscuits and homemade jam for the road. I would drive the 350+ miles just to have them again!

Diners directly evolved from food trucks back in 1858 in Providence, Rhode Island when the hungry masses were able to purchase meals from covered horse-drawn wagons. As the lunch wagons grew in popularity, they also grew in size, providing a place for patrons to stand inside and eat. Wagon vendors became such a successful business, they lined the streets, forcing cities to pass ordinances to restrict their locations and hours of operation (wow, does this sound familiar). To get around these regulations, wagon owners converted their businesses into semi-permanent locations. Around this time, street cars were evolving as well with the introduction of electricity, and many wagon businesses switched to using old street cars as restaurant structures. Thus, creating the classic "rail car" diner we were familiar with up until the 1940s. The Depression was a time that diners flourished because they served inexpensive classic comfort foods. They are still popular today for the very same reason. While we've seen the business structures evolve throughout the 150-year history, the food has pretty much remained the same - simple breakfasts, coffee, sandwiches and grilled burgers - American food at its core. Fort Collins isn't short on diners. We even have some that have been around for over 50 years. But, on August 4, 2011, we welcomed Doug's Day Diner as the newest place to serve a hearty and inexpensive breakfast and lunch. Doug's Day Diner is located in Front Range Village in the same location that the now-closed Le Peep left behind. This is the second location for owner Doug Weckerly, with the first going up in Centennial almost exactly a year ago. At every restaurant in town, the bacon is all the same. Never in my dining experiences have I come across bacon slices that were not only different, but shockingly better than any bacon I've ever had before. These were thick-cut (with six slices weighing about a pound), uncured, baked and fried. The thick, rich crunch of the slice was intoxicating. If you do not like anything else on the menu, the bacon alone is a reason to come. Our server told us that it was the same bacon served at the Waldorf Hotel (I could not confirm nor deny this), and Doug himself came to our table to chat about the challenges of getting this bacon in Fort Collins. Apparently, it was not an easy task! Restaurants are continually evolving as time goes on. Even in today's age, we're seeing history repeat itself with food trucks converting to semi-permanent structures (just look at what's going on in Portland, Oregon) and a growing interest in family-owned diners due to our tough economic state (much like the Depression). Doug's Day Diner is taking those historical roots and building upon them with quality foods, offering items you can't find anywhere else in Fort Collins.

Had lunch here shortly after it opened. Anything located here had to be better than Le Peep. It was busy, we took the last table, at noon time. Waitstaff was busy but friendly. I knocked down a Reuben with the homemade chips. It wasn't bad but I'd rather been enjoying the same sandwich at Jason's down the street. A bit pricey also. Nothing very special about this place and I don't know if I will be coming back anytime soon. I'm not a breakfast person and maybe that is where they shine.
(2)Caitlin P.
Their food was definitely homemade and fresh; the black Betty burger was unbelievable and they will cook it to order-I had mine medium rare and it was perfect! Service was friendly and quick. Only downside was no mimosas.
(5)Krissie P.
Hummm... where to begin? This place just opened where Le Peep was in the Council Tree plaza with Super Target. My husband came home from work the other day and asked if I had any time off from work this weekend. He told me that a co-worker had been to Doug's and was raving about the huge portions and over all tastiness. Lucky for me- I had Sunday off. We decided to hit it up. Upon walking in I was a little disappointed that they had not done much to change the Le Peep atmosphere or make the place feel "dinerish" at all... yeah- I did just say "dinerish" But- that's not going to stop me from trying to jam as much breakfast in my mouth as possible. We were told there was 15 minute wait and headed out front to avoid the hordes of octogenarians that were also waiting for a seat. Seeing at least 6 tables of people leave we headed back in to wait... Not once... twice... nope... not even three times... but 5 times we were asked "what's your name again?" After the 5th time the bubble headed teenager asked us- "do you wanna sit here?" motioning to the bar/counter. We said no and that we would wait for a table. Three minutes later we were asked if we would like to sit "on the patio" and "whats the name again?" We took the patio and were escorted outside to a table next to some people with bags of to go food. This- is not a patio. It was the public seating in the back of the restaurant. Whatever- at least I don't have to sit next the grandma who doused herself in White Diamonds. Ten minutes after being sat on the "patio" we saw a waitress come out. She was very sweet and soft spoken and asked what we would like- I got a coffee and a water and ordered a breakfast burrito. "Oh" said the nice woman dressed in pink. "Have you heard about the problem with the hash browns? The problem being that we don't have any?" DUDE. SERIOUSLY? Well... awesome. If you knew me at all you would know that I am the carb QUEEN and that I live for all things potato. So- I changed my order... I got a "cowboy whimpie". This is supposed to be hash browns topped with various breakfast meats and cheese, an assortment of chili or gravy and eggs. I was intrigued by this because they were subbing in french fries for hash browns. I thought- "AHHH it will be like breakfast poutine!" My husband ordered the Vaquero. A breaded steak covered in green chili with pinto beans and should have been hash browns. The coffee was good and the food came out fast. My makeshift poutine was actually really really delicious. However- my hubs gave me a taste of his steak and I got the worst- almost putrid taste in my mouth. He liked it. I- could barely keep myself from spitting it out on the "patio" floor. To be fair- I am sick and therefore my taste buds are off so I am going to chalk the rankness of the country fried steak up to that... I went to the restroom in this visit also... the mens restroom... since the womens was out of order. Our drinks were on the house since we did not have the full menu to choose from. The waitress was courteous and apologetic. I will give this place another try... although, it will probably be during the week when there is more of a possibility that the high school staff will be in classes and there will be a full menu to choose from.

I fell in love instantly with Doug's Day Diner. For one I haven't been able to order much else but their healthy sandwich. It is a vegetarian sandwich which is to die for and has a nice spread of cream cheese with shaved almonds laid down on it. The side salads are also quite scrumptious and pieced together very nicely. The salad dressing is made of home made ranch dressing which you can tell that there is something else of an edge over it unlike the typical ranch dressings. I finally ordered on my third visit something else. I was in the mood for pancakes and ordered blueberry pancakes and got a nice size able portion with fresh blueberries. The syrup was awesome too! I am already a repeat customer here and look forward to many happy returns. On my second visit I noticed that two people were in looking at the menu and more or less went 'hmmmph' and left. What they wanted was the usual greasy and slimy diner food but Doug's is refreshing from all of that typical diner food so I don't know what was up with them!

This is my wife and I's favorite breakfast joint. We love their big portions and hearty home cooked style grub! Great place to eat and enjoy a morning!
(5)Raygina K.
I don't make it here often because it's on the other side of town but I really like Doug's. The service is always friendly and good and the griddle cakes are to die for! I won't begrudge the east side of town their awesome breakfast.lunch place, but I am a bit jealous that it's not closer.
(4)Darcy P.
SO GOOD! The portions are really big, the prices are decent, and they homemake most everything. You definitely can't get better quality breakfast food. I LOVED both homemade jams that were given to us with our biscuits and toast. I will absolutely go back!
(5)B R.
Yum Large portions not chic chow. Biscuits with jam, and the pesto tomatoes are my favorites. So many delicious options. We went to the FTC location.
(4)Tre G.
Big portions, great food! Their pancakes beat my homemade pancakes! I hate to say it but it's true.
(4)Laura E.
If you are looking for a fabulous basic breakfast or great lunch, this is your place! Homemade (yes, really, right there in the kitchen) food, the best bacon ever, freshly baked griddle biscuits, Doug's mom makes the jam, and freshly baked buns on delicious burgers. You should try this place.
(5)Jeff S.
What can I say? Doug's is the best breakfast grub in Ft. Collins. The food is always fresh and the portions are huge! The staff is courteous and friendly, awesome service. Best bacon I've EVER had.
(4)stacy s.
people in this town like to eat breakfast. on sat and sun they all want to do this at 10 am. they then cosmically decide which single place they're all going to descend on. so, when we tried doug's and found no line (even though the place was full) we jumped on going in. much as krissie commented above, we were taken to the "patio" which i also didn't mind since we could get seated faster. service was good, only complaint was that i had to ask three times to get some jam to go on my biscuit. without the jam all i had was a very large lump of white breadstuff with nothing on it. i didn't want that to be my breakfast. this leads to the food. it wasn't bad, it just wasn't really good. the portions are just way too huge, it's kinda gross. i had a clue this would be the case when every (really, every) person we saw leaving had a take-home box with them. the biscuit i had was monstrous and it was pretty doughy. my husband had one of the skillet dishes and he also mentioned that the meat that came with it was pretty bad (it looked no good from where i was sitting - right next to it.) i don't eat meat and practically every dish had meat of some sort. i also don't like a peppers-onions combo and a large number of dishes that had. i don't dig fatty stuff, so the dishes with the gravy all over them were out, too. i wouldn't say don't give the place a try, just be aware that it might not be the best brunch-breakfast you've ever had. maybe just go to the cosmic breakfast meeting place of the day.
(2)Nico D.
I love Doug's. My favorite is the Sweet Ruth sandwich which has corned beef and cole slaw. It blows me away! Something I don't recommend is the messy fries. It may be personal taste, but the take on red and green chile doesn't do it for me at Doug's. I'm also not a huge fan of lemonade which is probably from powder, but these are very personal preferences and I have always left full and happy. The staff is usually really friendly and they can accommodate groups of about 10 pretty easily during less busy times. Oh, and the location is perfect for us because we can stay out of the busier parts of town.
(5)Bran H.
Overall a nice place for a meal. Didn't really have a diner feel to it but it was a nicely decorated place. Food was fast and portions enormous. The food was definitely diner food but at a slightly higher quality. My husband loves the red chili fries. Service was fast and friendly.
(3)Steven L.
Home cooked... if your home is referred to as "your outhouse" by the rest of the world. Nasty, nasty food that isn't just bad, it ultimately made everyone in our party a bit queasy. Unless you've got no taste and good health insurance, avoid this place!
(1)Holly C.
This is one of the last places you will really get a "made from scratch" meal. The biscuits and gravy are out of this world. The crowds can get big on the weekend for breakfast, and for good reason. My new FAVE breakfast place in FOCO. Service is good and coffee is THE BEST!!
(5)Steph P.
I can't say enough good things about this place. The food is really great. Comfort food is the best way to describe. Service is excellent and the food is just darn good. There's always a line so be prepared unless your willing to sit at the bar which is just fine too.
(4)Jeremy G.
Have been here a few times with my family it was a wonderful each time. The only drawback is that there is usually a long wait which if you have kids under 3 is no fun at all. Get any of their breakfast dishes and you won't be disappointed.
(4)Fred D.
Great food great service. Portions are awesome and everything is made from scratch.really good food this is a must try. Surprised at the turkey green chilli sausage also a must try
(4)Denise K.
Really enjoyed our breakfast here.. Portions are a bit large so two ppl could split it. We'll be back! Great Food!
(4)Dana E.
The food here has gone DOWNHILL! Used to love coming here! Not anymore...eggs were cold, hash browns barely cooked, and bacon far from done - and it's not cheap to eat here! I'll gladly pay $$ for a good breakfast. Disappointment!
(2)Moody F.
My new favorite breakfast place. Fort Collins offers many great breakfast places but I appreciate a different twist to this menu. Or maybe it's my weakness of hash browns.. Their Papas breakfast meals (hash browns and breakfast mixed together) is pure happiness. I also highly appreciate the half sized portions! I'm usually too gringo for red chili.. but don't be afraid of theirs. The spice level is just shy of medium and the flavor is through the roof tasty! Bacon is thick and tasty, burritos and omelets are great too.
(5)Travis C.
Had to head to NoCo for some shopping and found this place via yelp. Quick and dirty: Yes its buried in a big shopping mall, strange location but not too hard to find Went on Sat ~11am, no wait LARGE portions, great for the value - also huge glasses for beverages which is a plus. Thick cut bacon is awesome! Only complaint was the seating, having a table RIGHT outside the kitchen door isn't good for anyone, that should be dead space not only so servers can move, but also so that table doesn't have to deal with the hustle and bustle. I'll be coming here again though!
(4)Deanne L.
Okay, let me just say amazing! Food was so awesome I had an omelette with sautéed mushrooms. Peppers, onions outstanding there biscuits are homemade with homemade preserves! We had our kids and grandkids, totally accommodating with crayons and drawing paper. Service was also great our waitress went above and beyond love this place really great menu breakfast, sandwiches papas great selection!!!
(5)Troy C.
Very tasty breakfast burrito with Carne Asada smothered in half red sauce and half green. The Carne Asada was tender and flavorful, the potatoes good, the eggs plentiful and fluffy all wrapped in a tortilla and smothered. This was my first time here so I got half and half on the sauce. The red was a creamy enchilada style sauce with a good flavor but not spicy, the green had even more flavor and a bit more kick, the combo made for a well rounded flavorful breakfast. Service was exceptional, they provide a bottomless drink and want to make sure you get your moneys worth by keeping it full and providing a full to go cup on your way out. I would not hesitate going to Doug's again when I am in the area.
(4)Tres B.
On a Sunday morning, this place was PACKED and over flowing. I don't get the big crush. Its a steadystandard breakfast with no notable extra qualities. And a warning to those looknig for serenity, its family freindly , whcih means lots of scremaing il behaved kids. That's OK - even great if you are a family- but if you're me, its not so great :( Our server was studious and effcient.
(3)Nathan B.
AWESOME! I love the food. The Roadies are huge and amazing. The Bacon is mind-blowing. However, the french toast isn't that great from what my girlfriend told me. But I'm still going to give 5 starts because of the quality and quantity of food you get here. I also especially love the "Papas." They are almost like hash browns but thicker and wider. Almost like a potato noodle. Well, I just love it. My coworkers and I go there in the morning before work when we can get up that early!!
(5)Niki D.
This is a great little local diner. Everything is house made. The fries are great! The ranch is so good! I know that seems like a weird rave, but it is just so darn tasty!
(4)David R.
Doug's is a good place to eat breakfast. Ive eaten at a couple of their locations around Colorado and its always consistent. I appreciate the local and homemade items that they offer. Their hash browns/potatoes are excellent a must have with any meal. Their biscuit is not much of a biscuit unfortunately. Its a bit doughy and chewy, not typical biscuit terminology. My one gripe with this place is they ration the jelly like its world war one. A small, paper cup of a teaspoon of jelly just doesn't cut it. Bring me a JAR! I was going to give Doug's 4 stars until I found out they don't make their English muffins, another must try. They're good especially with the 2 grams of jelly you get on the side. Seriously bring me a jar.
(3)Jennifer P.
I should probably mention I was a restaurant server and manager for nearly 20 years and so my observances are coming from that viewpoint. Foodservers should never be eating food in front of customers - period. When I worked in the biz we had a private room just off the kitchen for employees to eat, or they ate in a closed-off section of the restaurant, and certainly not during the noon rush. Very unprofessional in my opinion!
(1)Stephanie O.
Huge disappointment! I honestly do not know what all the hype is. We had a ham and cheese omelette and biscuits and gravy. The ham and cheese omelette had so little cheese and ham, we questioned why they mention either on the menu. The gravy was bland and meatless. I couldn't eat more then 25% the flavor was so off. Only positive was the home made jelly! Other than the food it was extremely disappointing as well to have people sit down and order after us and receive their food before us. Also to go orders being placed after we had ordered, at the counter and receiving them before us. After 30 minutes we finally got our food. Not a place I'd care to return to. Also listening to the wait staff chat about their tables in a non positive fashion did not help improve my score. Snooze much better choice or egg & I McDonalds even sounds tasty when compared!
(2)J G.
This place is by far one of the best breakfast places in the area. Not only is the food great but the portions are tremendous. They definitely have a lot of choices. My favorite is the wet breakfast burrito with both types of sauces.
(5)Marisa V.
Had the Pavi omelet with tortilla it was excellent. Reason for 3 stars, service was not so good, we sat there for nearly 10 minutes before we asked hostess to get our waitress. I asked for coffee it took awhile to get, waitress said she was waiting for new coffee to brew. So who knows, may go back for food but maybe go at a less busy time.
(3)Marisa M.
The food at Doug's was fantastic, but the ambiance left much to be desired. The portions are huge, so it is definitely a good value- the breakfast burrito was basically the size of my boyfriend's head and my modified huevos rancheros enough to fill an obese elephant. Yet it was so delicious that I basically shoveled it down, so I guess I can now answer to "obese elephant." I was craving, very specifically, huevos rancheros on corn tortillas with veggies and red and green chile and so guess what, that is what I asked for and that is what I was brought. It was so scrumptious. One little issue was that I asked for my eggs cooked really well, but the yolks were completely runny. One downside is that they only have black coffee- no caps or fraps or lattes. The coffee was decent, however. I am really unsure how to describe the building in which Doug's is located- it kind of felt like being inside a warehouse. I like breakfast establishments that feel like comfortable and homey diners.
(4)Maria P.
Yum! We went to Doug's with my boyfriends parents as its one of their favorite breakfast joints. When we arrived around 9:00 am on a Saturday morning the place was packed. We only waited about 5 minutes for a table. Our waitress was prompt and fast. I ordered the Lil'Billy, the scrambled eggs were perfect, hash very good, biscuits and gravy decent biscuits better than the gravy and most importantly the bacon was to die for. Thick cut perfectly cooked. My boy ordered the Cowboy Papas which he liked but probably will not order again, he wasn't thrilled over it. His parents got an omelette and a Whimpie Skinny Papa. Everyone enjoyed the meal thoroughly, I will definitely go back here; the price was good too! The only complaint is the noise. It is very loud inside because the ceiling is open.
(4)Rhonda M.
Portions are huge. The gravy was bland. But I'm from the south, so I'm probably more opinionated about gravy than most. The apple butter is THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD!! Very good. Griddled biscuit is different. I'd ask for a regular biscuit next time. My only complaint is the biscuit/gravy came layered on the hash browns. Get those on the side.
(3)Tyler T.
This is the place to go for a big hearty breakfast. Chicken fried steak and eggs were some of the best I have ever had. Only downside to Doug's is it gets really busy. We had to sit at the bar or else wait for an hour. Go early and you will be happy with an incredible breakfast.
(5)Tessa B.
Always a pleasant experience at Doug's. The coffee is always hot, the staff is always friendly, and the food is always great! Be prepared to wait if you go on a weekend for breakfast/brunch... My boyfriend and I ventured over at 11:00 AM on a Sunday morning and the wait for 2 was 45 minutes. We unfortunately had to make an appointment and were unable to wait, but returned on a Friday around 12:45 and there was no wait, and the service as quick. Food comes in fair, large portions for the price and like I said, is ALWAYS great! Best breakfast/brunch restaurant on that side of Fort Collins.
(5)Kevin L.
I had a friend talking it up a lot, and maybe I am giving it a 3 star because I was expecting more the way my friend was talking. The portions are huge, don't make the mistake of getting 2 meals if you are with someone just share 1 meal you'll both be stuffed I promise. My theory with restaurants is if you give huge portions you have to go cheaper on the quality, that seemed to be the case here. Maybe I am being picky, but I felt like I was in my uncles living room and not in a restaurant. I am not sure why the atmosphere felt weird, maybe it was carpet? It was good and I'd defiantly go back, it just isn't the authentic Mexican food place I was hoping for and my friend had talked it up to be.
(3)Sherry R.
Excellent breakfast! I'm always hesitant to order hot cakes. Sometimes they are too heavy, too dry...these were perfect & they are huge!!! Real blueberries too! The bacon is thick, meaty & delicious! I've heard their portions are really big but you can order half portions as well!! Staff was friendly & welcoming as well!!! I'll be back!

I am a frequent breakfast diner at Doug's...the servers are consistently friendly, helpful and accurate with my order...and all of the different breakfast dishes ranging from the "Basic" to the Huevos Soccoro...or the bigger than average burgers have always been tasty, well proportioned and priced accordingly...it's a nice touch that most drinks you order with your meal they will ask if you want a "to go" cup when you leave...the dining area with tables and a "U" shaped bar area are always clean and tidy...its nice they have double doors coming into and going out of the restaurant to keep the climate inside the restaurant consistent...instead of constant cold or hot bursts during inclement weather...I recommend Doug's and will continue to be a dedicated patron of the establishment!

Doug's is a great little find in South East Ft. Collins. I appreciate that virtually everything is made from scratch, and that the quality of the ingredients is a priority for their menu. My favorites are anything with the Carne Asada and the spicy red chile sauce--could be an Omelette, or a take on Huevos Socorro. The portions are HUGE! Too big truthfully--I always feel like I'm wasting food because I can never finish an entree. Lately I split an entree with my significant other, and this works pretty well--provided we agree on what we want to eat! I've yet to try anything off their lunch menu so I can't really speak to that. In summary--great place to eat breakfast or brunch. Good coffee, quality ingredients, and HUGE potions all for a very fair price. I'll continue to come back.

We had some business in Loveland and decided to try this place out. Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out, and I'll definitely be going back to Doug's! Fantastic food and friendly service. We shared the papas (finely shredded, crispy hash browns) with carne asada, green chili and eggs over easy. It was more than enough for two. Even the decaf was good, which is rare. And the servers were very personable and easy going, which almost never seems to be the case on a weekend at a breakfast place.

On the one hand, everyone is right about one thing: The portion control is OUT of control. These meals feed two easily, and you could stretch it to three without trying hard. On the two hand, the food is super delicious and it's all made fresh people, it's not going to taste like the processed and flash-frozen crap they serve at the chain breakfast places. The grilled biscuits are out of this world buttery and dense and tasty. Don't count the calories. To balance the biscuit, I had the Sharon veggie omelette, which was packed to the rafters with veggies and get this: sprouts. And not just a touch, a ton. The sour cream and guac in the omelette made it so the veggies didn't take over and make it a salad, so I was a happy camper - overall a tasty and fresh omelette. The hash browns were undercooked and dry, I'm not sure how that happened. I don't use ketchup, it's an insult to the food and the chef, so I had to hot sauce my browns. My sister had something that came with a few strips of their bacon, and you can tell they make their own. Super thick cut, lots of fat, and well seasoned. If you're a bacon freak you might want to try this place. A touch on the pricey side for breakfast, but like I said, they feed you today and tomorrow. We came at the late end of their hours at 1:00pm on a Sunday, so the place wasn't in tip top cleanliness and the wait staff was a bit worn out, but that's understandable.

Had Saturday breakfast/brunch in anticipation of a much hyped blizzard that never really hit FC. Gotta love #cowx. Portion sizes amazing, food served hot and promptly by a fantastic, friendly and very attentive server (thanx, Allie!) We were stuffed until dinner time. Everything was great. See the pic I posted of the country steak. The only thing holding me back from a five stars rating is pricing. Breakfast for two at a diner, no matter how good, just shouldn't be almost $30 for two entrees and coffee's. We picked items in the middle of the menu's price range. I'll definitely be back but unfortunately not as frequently as I would like, as I just can't justify the cost of the breakfast.

*Small disclaimer - we ate at the Loveland location this weekend but I have eaten lunch at the Council Tree spot earlier. Realizing we had no bones in the cupboard a la Mother Hubbard, we trekked out in search of nourishment. We landed at Doug's Day Diner and settled at the counter. I love sitting at the counter, especially at a diner. The only drawback is that the counter is right by the front door so we kept getting gusts of cold wind every time someone opened the door which was often. My husband ordered the turkey sausage burrito and this thing is massive. Like feed a small village massive. He commented that the portion could be reduced, still fill you up and give the diner a bigger profit margin! I, on the other hand, got the skinny "Whimpie" and got a rather small bowl of food. There seems to be a huge discrepancy in their portions. It was actually a perfect size if you want to be hungry again later in the day. I opted for the green chili and it was the perfect amount of heat. We will definitely be back and might even make this a regular breakfast spot.

Came here for breakfast based on good reviews. Good Lord, what is wrong with you people?!? Do you not have standards? I know food is subjective but... Jeez!!! Where do I start? I had a child with me and was never offered a kids menu. I had to beg for one. I wanted a breakfast combo that came with pancakes (like all other breakfast spots offer). Not here. Ya have to pay extra! They didn't cook my eggs correctly. They we're not "over well" like I asked. They we're runny and translucent. And what's up with the hash browns? They have zero flavor. Add salt, onions or paprika! Something! The bacon was really thick. Not a fan. If I wanted beef jerky, I could've gone to the local 7-11 instead. The waitress forgot to bring my toast and I had to ask for more coffee. The list goes on... Let me tell you, it was really interesting when the waitress came around and asked if everything was ok. Never again! Seriously, go to The Breakfast Club in Loveland and experience what a made from scratch breakfast really tastes like! Heck, The Original Pancake House across the street is a much better option.

I wanted to like this place! First off, definitely not enough people working this morning. We waited at least ten minutes in the "wait to be seated" area for someone to notice us. There were maybe three servers working an almost full restaurant. And to top it off, the omelet I had was almost tasteless. Fortunately my husband enjoyed his burrito. The biscuit was good enough so that's most of what I had. If you're an egg lover, I would consider skipping this place. Not worth the wait.
(2)Emma L.
The food was sub par, I was expecting greatness after all the good reviews. The eggs bland and rubbery. Not a fan of the think cut chewy bacon. Highlight of my meal was pancakes, which are kind of hard to screw up! I had some of my boyfriend's hash browns, also bland, no seasoning whatsoever. He had to cover them it hot sauce to eat them. Probably won't be back to Doug's unfortunately.

I love this place and go here every chance I get!! If I could give it 10 stars I would, I happily recommend this place to everyone I know. I have never been disappointed and always left stuft. The wait can be really long, you just have to get there early.

Awesome breakfast place after visiting three times for breakfast. Can't speak to the lunches. Everything we have has been really good although some dishes are just outstanding. Most everything made from scratch. Green chile is really good for Colorado fare (from NM so have the right to judge). They have a variety of creative omelette's and the carne asada is really good. Strawberry and raspberry jam is homemade and simply the best jam I have ever had. Portions are huge and easily can feed two and possibly still have some leftover. The only thing I have had here that I did not care for is the red chile but then I have usually don't like the red chile at most any establishment. Eat and enjoy.

I'm not usually one to find 'mall-like' establishments, especially for morning breakfast, but I had read other reviews and thought I'd try out Doug's Day Diner. Mostly because there's another one in Loveland, CO. not just Fort Collins. So I had to check this place out. I found it to be a place that deserves at least a second visit because I found the food to be fantastic. Great job guys! Other than the atmosphere which is covered with photography art all by one artist (at least at this location) this place has some excellent breakfast choices. A good clean environment there's one word that I think sums up the food...thick. The bacon is thick, the toast is thick and the portions are plentiful. Huge pancakes too mimicking the actual size of the large breakfast plate. The highlight of this place I believe is their incredibly awesome blackberry and strawberry homemade jams. Wonderful!! I could put them on everything! My experience was that the attentiveness by the waitress was good until wanting to leave. In fact, there were two of them and and I couldn't figure out who I actually left the tip for. It took about 10 minutes to cash out so I wouldn't recommend it if you are in a rush. That said, I definitely plan to go back at some point if my other two NoCo favorites are too busy. The parking is ample given its in a shopping center.

Terrible hash browns today. I had a big hash browns plate from the "papas" section of the menu, with eggs, sausage, bacon, and green & red chile sauce. There are really four decent criteria for what makes good hash browns good: 1) Color. 2) Texture. 3) Flavor. 4) add-ons. Dougs failed on all four today. I have never been so disappointed. 1. These hash browns were absolutely pale white through and through. There was one section in a whole plate that had what I'd describe as a "light brown" color. Nothing was "brown" about these hash browns. 2. The texture was absolutely nothing: the potatoes were clearly shredded at some point in their early lives, but the end result was something like dry mashed potatoes. By dry I mean no water, no milk, no butter: mashed, then left out to dry out some more. They were homogenous. I could detect no chunks, shapes, cubes or shreds or slices, it was just a big schmear of white. 3. Absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Obviously, browning (especially if helped along with butter) adds flavor. Salt would add flavor. Anything would add flavor. This had none. Nothing. It tasted like eating dry instant mashed potato flakes mixed with a little distilled water. 4. They could have saved face, in the end, if there had been a hint of some onion or something cooked with the browns. Alas, I paid $10 for a huge plate of library paste, topped with some bacon bits. The service was lovely, but I can't get over what I just experienced.

We went there for breakfast. This place is so good! The bacon is nice and thick. The hash browns are freshly grated and made in house. They also make their own jam. The biscuits are some of the best I've ever tasted. Everything we ordered was excellent! This is one of the top 3 places in Fort Collins for breakfast. I would like to try their lunch menu as well. I will definitely go back.

GREAT BACON. They were very accommodating to my dietary needs and were helpful in making the choices available to me. The service and quality of food was unbelievable and the price was very reasonable.

My daughter teenage daughter and I stopped in for a early lunch (11am). It wasn't busy at all, we were sat immediately. Our table was at the back of the restaurant, i sat against the wall facing right into the kitchen. People were spraying cleaner and wiping everything down (probably getting ready for a health inspection) and it just seemed odd. My suggestion, get a partition or something so your diners don't have to stare right into the back of house where your employees are cleaning and eating. I ordered a turkey sandwich with salad (wanted a Caesar but all they had was "regular" (as the server put), and my daughter ordered a cheese burger with fries. Took a tad longer than I would expect considering there was no one in the place really (probably 3 other 2 tops). Once our food did come my daughter have potato chips instead of fries on her plate, which would have been fine if they were fresh, but they were obviously out of a bag or just really old. My sandwich came and the salad was topped with cheese and bell peppers.. ? My turkey sandwich was just not good. the turkey meat was way to dry and the bread on the bottom was soggy. It was also topped with diced green chilles and bacon and gauc, then the meat and the other slice of bread. The green chilles were waaay to spicy for me and the only way to take them off was to take the bacon bits and guac off with it (since it was all one "spread"). Very disappointing. My daughters cheese burger was served on a roll.. the round patty stuck out the side of this hoagie roll which just looked odd. It was cooked to medium even though she ordered medium rare. And again as mentioned she didn't get fries until we pointed out that she was served chips. Ive eater breakfast here before and remembered it really wasn't that bad. Pretty good actually. However after this lunch experience I don't think we will be returning.

The biscuits were good. It was noisy, though, and the wifi doesn't work. Wish I could find a breakfast place that served normal portions, at reasonable prices.

Go to Doug's almost once a weekend. My boyfriend and I enjoy the great food and the friendly service. I have been here many times before but our last visit was what convinced me to write a review. After sitting down and saying we were ready to order I think our waitress got the idea that we were in a bit of a time crunch. Food came out promptly and we didn't even have to ask for our check. Kaitie, our waitress had great timing and was quick and efficient in filling our coffee up, serving our food, and getting our check taken care. It's rare that you get a server who is observant and makes the effort to speed up the process without being asked. I have always loved this place, but I continue to be more and more impressed. I grew up in a small town, and Doug's feels like a small town restaurant that is almost a secret for anyone but the locals. Great great restaurant!!!!!!

Good atmosphere & great food. There were 6 if us & we were all impressed by the food.

OMG...hands down, this is the best place for breakfast in Fort Collins! Farmers Table, Breakfast Club, scoot over. Prices reasonable and portions HUGE. Wait staff friendly and outgoing.
(5)Grace H.
We have frequented Doug's Day Diner since it opened. I loved the fresh, hardy portions. The food was well cooked and the ingredients were high quality. Unfortunately, the food (and service) has slowly gone downhill. The food is oily, overcooked, and it seems like quality has been sacrificed. We were treated very rudely by our waitress yesterday, which was the last straw. It's too bad...they were really wonderful, but it has been such a decline. We will take our business to many of the other great breakfast restaurants in town.
(2)Deb B.
Huge portions of barely edible food. The chicken fried steak was tough as a piece of leather, the gravy bland and the biscuit a humongous, dense failure. Will not be back.
(1)Jeff C.
If you're looking for a 5 star restaurant/breakfast experience and you have high class taste then eat at a higher priced specialty eatery. If you want straight up diner food with reasonable prices and huge portions....this is the place!
(5)Sheryl Y.
Home cooked goodness! Huge breakfast and all homemade. Very nummy. The biscuit was a bit dense for my taste. I just like them really light and fluffy.
(4)E T.
Goldmine. Fresh, homemade everything. Wonderful breakfasts, and killer burgers. I never thought a burger with lack berry jam would be palatable, but it was sensational. The staff is super nice. It's nice to finally have something nice to say about a Fort Collins restaurant. Hands down the best burger in town, and it's not even a "burger joint."
(5)Wheeler E.
Outstanding! I wish I lived here, I'd be a regular.... Crazy good pancakes and then super crazy good country biscuit! Come try this place... Great job and kudos to the owner and staff....
(5)Lizzy R.
Decided to try it out again because we were asked to from the owner and our meals would be on him. We didn't want the waitresses to know we were asked to come back so we could have a genuine experience. All so we can say that is it was even worst this time and our wait staff Tracy was terrible. Don't know why we wasted our morning on this place.

We used to live in Fort Collins about 15 years ago, came back to see Friends and ski. Harmony has exploded with retail and restaurants, normally would head downtown for breakfast but we decided to try Doug's Day Diner. We were quite pleased. Service awesome, Food great, helpings huge, priced just right! This is a gem!
(4)Krysta C.
Wow! If you want a lot of breakfast food look no further. Not to mention it is delicious. The biscuits- oh my, the biscuits. They offer you apple butter or jam, but just plain butter makes these biscuits divine. Great pancakes that are the thickest I have ever seen, and some of the best crispy and cheesy hash browns around. I love scrambled eggs, and theirs were just okay. Friendly, and fairly quick service. This place gets pretty busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait - but the biscuits are so worth it!

3 words: Best bacon ever everythng is homemade... whats not homemade is local... cannot go wrong!
(5)Ryan B.
4 hungry guys walked in, 4 satisfied customers left, wait staff was attentive and very friendly. We were en route to Wyoming and talked about the breakfast the entire trip. Worth the drive from I-25 if you want to sit down.
(5)Brandon S.
Just moved to Fort Collins, this is my favorite new breakfast place! Portions are on the large side. Country gravy is amazing and all their sauces are made from scratch.
(4)K H.
Great food and atmosphere. The portions are huge and the food is just delicious. The hostess girl must be a relative because she clearly has no business greeting people, otherwise would have given 5 stars.
(4)Kenziee E.
Their dressings are homemade and so delicious always have great friendly service my favorite place to eat !!
(5)Lindsey B.
You can't go wrong with homemade food and jams! The Lil Billy is amazing and I like trying a new menu item with each visit! Definitely recommend :)
